The Wedding Planner: Your Best Friend & Mine!

5 Reasons Why You Need a Planner

Without a doubt, when a great wedding planner is at the helm, the wedding day runs much more smoothly, and everyone is less stressed. As a wedding officiant, I approach the wedding day as a team player. From the photographer to the caterer to the musicians and the servers, we are all part of a team that is there for one reason. We want to make your wedding day as joyful as possible.

While I am the director of the ceremony, the organized wedding planner manages the entire team. I always call the planner weeks before and create a partnership. Creating a positive connection before the day of the ceremony cements a powerful collaboration that ensures everything needed for the wedding ritual is in place. I also know it means that I will be working with a couple who is much more available and present for their amazing ceremony–and party!

When you plan your budget, plan for a great wedding planner and the best officiant, location, and caterer.  Here are 5 reasons why it will be worth the investment:

  1. Maximize Your Budgets: Experienced wedding planners know budgets. They can help you be realistic about your budget, so there are no surprises.  They can also guide you in helping stretch your dollar so that you can make wise financial decisions and offer new cost-saving ideas.

  2. Create Achievable Timelines:  Planners also know about the timing of things. They will help you create timelines and keep you on track so that there are fewer surprises and stress is lessened because the work and effort are spread out over months. The feeling of not being alone in the thicket of deadlines is invaluable.

  3. Recommendations and Discounts:  Often, wedding planners have established relationships with various vendors, and they will help you communicate with all of them. They have insider knowledge and can be great resources for helping you find the right people or place. Sometimes they can even secure a planner discount in certain situations.

  4. Manage Family Members: They can often interference with challenging family members by explaining the priorities and reinforcing good boundaries. On the day of the rehearsal and for taking photos, their eye for efficiency helps make these tasks run much more smoothly.

  5. Big Help on the Big Day: This is the reason why wedding planners are my best friends!  On the day of the wedding, they work their magic to ensure that all the details are in place and they can troubleshoot any issues that may arise (and they do!). I rely on them to ensure we have what we need for the ceremony. In addition, as logistic mavens, they are the point person making sure that all aspects of the day of the wedding are beautiful and where they need to be, making sure you and your family are not burdened, and you can simply enjoy the celebration!

I believe a good wedding planner is worth their weight in gold! And even though they may seem to cost a bit up front, they often make up much of the cost in streamlining planning, their knowledge, and their problem-solving ability while relieving stress.  I have yet to meet anyone who regrets the decision. The wedding planner is my best friend, and they will undoubtedly be yours too.
